Denver Public School's Costume Shop

DPS has a fun resource that seems to be a fairly guarded secret. At least it was from me ... and I've worked for the district for over 32 years now!

The DPS Costume Shop is run by Jean Benson and she's been at it for 17 years.

Under normal circumstances (not right now) DPS teachers can easily check out any items from the 5,000 + inventory of costumes available. Everything is free. You just contact Jean and tell her what you're interested in. The shop is in the Acoma Street building.

Here is the extensive inventory that Jean put together in 2010. She is currently updating it - but seeing it gives you some idea.

I found that you have to scroll about halfway down to get into the more middle school grade (and older) costumes.

Fun stuff!

Climate Kids from NASA

 Another fun one from NASA.

The initial elementary look of this web page is deceiving. The site is developed for students through middle school and indeed the material is that advanced.

 https://climatekids.nasa.gov/

I explored the tab for Atmosphere.

Then I went to NASA Missions Studying the Atmosphere.

Each simple icon opens a page of sophisticated information about the mission. For example mission Aqua.

You get a page of data about the mission (with links). Then Recent Imagery Incorporating Aqua Data (extremely up to date, in this case 9/21/2020).

Then Aqua Status. Then Aqua Video Podcast Series.

Then a list of Aqua Science Teams!

Very cool, readable, lots of eye candy and the site is easy to navigate.
