The Atlantic

 Hello!

The Atlantic offers a free online subscription to their magazine for educators. It is a generous gesture and access to this fine publication is extremely valuable.

To gain access for free just follow the directions to register (as an educator) from their main site at

https://www.theatlantic.com/

The Atlantic is one of the oldest and most respected journals in United States History. Its scholarship is top notch, and the magazine’s ethical and moral compass is unsurpassed.

Beginning in March, The Atlantic is introducing a special section called Inheritance.

Here is a little information about Inheritance and the link to follow.

Introducing Inheritance

Too much knowledge has been lost, too many stories distorted, too many people forgotten. We mourn for all we do not know. Yet the vision and resilience of Black America are shaping this nation. Our future demands that we unbury the past.

Denver Art Museum

https://www.denverartmuseum.org/en/creativity-resource

The Denver Art Museum offers a large assortment of creative resources for educators, students and parents.

The three categories are “at the museum”, “online” and “in the community”.

DAM’s Museum Web Quest: Virtual Visit and More! activities include close-looking exercises with high-resolution artwork images from the Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism exhibition and the DAM’s permanent collections.

Plan & Teach offers an abundance of lesson plans for all age groups inspired by works in the museum’s collection. They were designed by local educators for teachers and homeschooling parents. These lesson plans meet Colorado standards and include 21st Century skills.

Read is a host of book recommendations. Here you’ll find some of DAM’s favorite books and why they love them. They have even included a few prompts to try while reading to your kids.

Look & Play is a way to find out more about a particular piece of art found at the museum. By clicking on an Art Object, you’ll find information about the artist, what inspired the piece of art, and interesting details to note about the work of art. You’ll also find high resolution images and any additional resources we have relating to the artwork.

Create is a way to get hands on through Art Explorations. You will find a variety of art making projects you can do at home inspired by art in our collection.

Watch & Learn provides Lesson Sparks & Videos that give you a glimpse into techniques, practices, and influences. They focus on an artist or an object from the museum collection accompanied by guiding questions to spark meaningful discussions.
